The day started with Ryan taking his first ever tom under the guidance and calling of his partner Ray. That bird gave their team an early lead as the other teams changed strategies and locations. As the morning wore on both the teams of Combs and Dryer, and Reynolds and Nana suffered misses which cost them penalty points putting them deep in a hole. With a 3:00 PM deadline looming all the teams were on the clock when Scott Newby harvested the largest turkey of the event which weighed in at nearly 22 pounds with a nearly 10-inch beard and 1 1/4” spurs which gave them a large lead to close the day.
