Americana Outdoors E-Magazine - May 2019

Americana Outdoors welcomed Danielle Sanville, Laura Koarik, Rose Bier, and Jana Waller, for the Thompson Center’s Annual Women’s Turkey hunt. Before day one kicked off, they got unloaded and gathered around for some delicious food, good conversation, and began planning their hunt. In the early morning hours the women were bright eyed and bushy tailed as they collected all their gear and headed out to their respective locations for the hunt. Getting to their hunt sites was a bit of a hike, but that’s never stopped these avid hunters. Now as we all know, the most difficult part of hunting is the wait. Anticipating when that perfect turkey will come out, and debating if you should make the shot or hold off for the next one. By mid-morning (or mid-day), the turkeys started to come out of hiding. On day one, Danielle was the first to take a turkey. As day one came to an end, all the women headed back to camp for dinner and planned for the next days hunt as they wind down for the night. Day two of the Women’s Turkey hunt kicked off with (Laura, Rose, or Jana) harvested not only a turkey, but smoked a hog as well to top everything off. While this isn’t the first turkey hunt these ladies have been on, they always look forward to this every year and are always excited to see what giants they will find. Be on the lookout for these amazing hunts on a future Americana Outdoors episode!
