The most recent deer hunting season is in our rear-view mirror. This past year was as up-and-down of a season asI have had in a long time. However, it will make for great content both from the successful hunts and the ones where we didn’t harvest a thing. We’ll have more behind- the-scenes looks at what happens around the camps, in the field, and everywhere else to tie it all together. Looking ahead, we are getting out on the water in between all the cold fronts that seem to be showing up this time of the year. We’ve been rigging boats, cleaning gear, and counting the days until college bass fishing season kicks off on the famed Kentucky Lake. For those of you who are gear junkies, we’ve been rolling out a lot of how-to assets on new products, setting up your boats, electronics, and more on both Americana Outdoors and its sister fishing show Fisherman’s Handbook. You can find all that content and more online on Outdoor Action TV or YouTube. Speaking of Outdoor Action TV, we will be rolling out an all-new version soon! This will include several new platforms and ways to view on connected devices as well as a brand-new channel that you’ll be able to tune into at any time. This is going to be a great addition to the Careco and Americana Outdoors family!

Garmin LiveScope Plus Garmin unveils LiveScope Plus with enhanced resolution, clearer images and even better target separation.

Award-winning live-scanning sonar continues to change the game for recreational fishing Garmin® International, Inc. announced the LiveScope™ Plus System, the latest addition to Garmin’s revolutionary live-scanning sonar lineup with brilliantly clear live scanning sonar returns and 35% improved target separation over the existing system. Now with sharper resolution, reduced noise, and Garmin’s clearest images, it’s easier than ever to see structure, bait and fish around the boat in real time, even while stationary. With three modes – Forward, Down and Perspective – the LiveScope Plus System also includes the popular Perspective Mode Mount. See the LiveScope Plus difference. “LiveScope truly transformed the world of fishing by delivering live images and movement so clear

and precise that anglers could actually distinguish between species of fish,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales. “With the adjustments we’ve made to the screen clarity, transducer sensitivity and target separation in LiveScope Plus, you can even see your fishing line now – not to mention your lure and how the fish are responding to it.” Image Definition Like You’ve Never Seen Optimized for precision and accuracy, the new design of the LiveScope Plus transducer not only delivers 35% improved target separation, it’s also capable of identifying and separating targets as small as 14” at distances 100 feet from the boat. With brilliantly clear sonar returns – available with seven vivid color options – anglers can see exactly what they need to with improved image stitching, reduced noise and fewer on-screen artifacts that impede the picture of fish and structure. LiveScope

Upgrade to the LiveScope Plus advantage The LiveScope Plus System includes a compact GLS™ 10 black box with a LiveScope Plus LVS34 transducer, along with a trolling motor barrel and shaft mounting kit, perspective mount bracket and a simple plug-and-play Garmin Marine Network connector for easy installation and integration with a compatible chartplotter. With a free software update, the LVS34 transducer (sold separately) can be added to an existing LiveScope System black box for customers who want to upgrade. Both the LiveScope Plus System and the LiveScope Plus LVS34 transducer are expected to be available next month, with suggested retail prices of $1699.99 and $1199.99, respectively. LiveScope Plus is compatible with a wide range of Garmin GPSMAP® and ECHOMAP™ chartplotters and combo units; click here for the full list of compatible devices.

Plus is also equipped with additional sensors that allow it to constantly adjust the sonar beams to compensate for boat motion, so even in rough conditions, anglers will still see a steady sonar image. Three Modes in One System The LiveScope Plus System delivers three unique vantage points with one mount that can be easily adjusted to fit an angler’s fishing techniques and preferences, no tools required. Simply turn the transducer forward for a live look at what’s out in front of the boat; point it down to see directly beneath the boat; or turn it sideways with the included Perspective Mode Mount to enable the ‘top down’ perspective mode to see a wide view of what’s in front of the boat up to 50 feet away. Select the LiveScope mode that best fits that fishing spot, and the view will automatically change on a compatible Garmin chartplotter screen.

The Bass Pro Shops National Headquarters— the Grandaddy of all Outdoor Stores and Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium—to host one-of-a-kind celebration of fishing, conservation, the great outdoors and the company’s 50th anniversary. The World’s Fishing Fair, an exclusive presentation of Bass Pro Shops, is a one-of-a-kind showcase of fishing, boating, conservation, and the great outdoors. Live from the Bass Pro Shops National Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri—the fishing capital of the world and headwaters of the largest conservation movement that our country has seen in decades—the Fair is headlined by concerts from country music superstars including such greats as Hank Williams Jr., Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Chris Janson and more to be announced— exhibitions,

fishing personalities and unbeatable savings. At itsmost essential, the Fair is a five-day celebration of fishing—and all of the people, products, stories, places, traditions and experiences that make it so wonderful. Not only is the Fair the greatest fishing show and sale on Earth, but 50% of proceeds from all of the Fair’s event admissions will be donated to support conservation.

The 2022 World’s Fishing Fair will be the second iteration of the storied event. Building on the success of World’s Fishing Fair in 1988, this year’s fair is destined to be the largest event in the history of angling. Concerts for Conservation provide visitors the opportunity to support conservation and have a blast at performances by a world class lineup of country music stars. Joining country music headliners are NASCAR legends, America’s top fishing pros, top outdoor personalities and some of the brightest minds on the conservation landscape. The World’s Fishing Fair features an incredible assortment of the newest fishing tackle and boats available at incredibly low Fair pricing. Showcasing over 200 exhibits from more than 150 manufacturers across fishing, boating and outdoor categories, the Fair provides access to see and learn about a greater selection of tackle, products and accessories than any event in the world. Factory representatives and technicians will be on hand to provide first-person instruction and education about the latest innovations in fishing tackle and boating systems—outboard engines, sonar technology, fish finders, audio systems and much, much more.

The event features huge bargain tent sales of factory closeouts and overstock and truckload sales of over $10 million of tackle priced to sell. The Fair also will showcase a one-of-a-kind lineup of some of America’s favorite fishing boats and all-terrain vehicles, with more than 20 new 2022 models from TRACKER, Ranger, Nitro and others. In effect, the event provides the opportunity for anglers to buy boats factory direct and save on freight! Beyond the incredible buying opportunities, Fair visitors also can visit the National Bass Fishing Hall of Fame, the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame, the American Fly Fishing Museum, the Archery Hall of Fame, the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum and of course Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium. A unique showcase of the leading role played by hunters and anglers in conservation, the Wonders of Wildlife facility has three times been voted “America’s Best Aquarium” by USA Today. The World’s Fishing Fair guest experience also boasts a lineup of fishing seminars from top pros and legends of the sport. The seminars alone are like attending a $500 fishing school. Visitors can round out the experience by watching the World Casting Championships! AN UNPARALLELED COLLECTION OF FISHING KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

The first World’s Fishing Fair in 1988 drew more than 250,000 anglers from all over the world.

More than just instruction and access, the World’s Fishing Fair hosts more than 500,000 square feet of tackle and equipment at incredibly low prices.

Legends of bass fishing will be in attendance such as Jimmy Houston, Roland Martin, Johnny Morris, Kevin VanDam, and Bill Dance.

TheWorld Fishing Fair uniquely celebrates fishing’s past and present. Legends of the sport such as Bill Dance, Roland Martin, Jimmy Houston and Rick Clunn are joined by some of today’s top bass fishing pros like Kevin VanDam, Edwin Evers, Skeet Reese and many others. The lineup of seminars offers visitors the opportunity to gain firsthand fishing knowledge from some of the best to ever do it. Joining fishing legends are some of the brightest minds on the conservation landscape. Leaders from some of the world’s finest conservation organizations will be on hand to share perspective on the importance of their work—and how you can help. Proceeds from general and concert admissions will be donated to conservation, advancing the world-changing missions of some of the most impactful organizations in the country. The Fair will also feature Turkey Days, an exhibit composed of a select group of turkey hunting vendors. Rounding out the experience, some of the best writers and journalists in the outdoor space will be in attendance. By showcasing the intersection of fishing, lifestyle and conservation, the World’s Fishing Fair heightens the profile of giving back and being connected to the great outdoors. RAISING THE PROFILE OF CONSERVATION In many ways, the first World’s Fishing Fair in 1988 put Bass Pro Shops on the map. In the months following the event, Bass Pro Shops began receiving guests from all 50 states every 30 days. The second iteration of the World’s Fishing Fair builds on the company’s tradition of innovation in leadership—in the outdoor retails space and in its approach to conservation. As Bass Pro Shops commemorates the 50th anniversary of its founding, its commitment to conservation has touched nearly every corner of North America. The World’s Fishing Fair, with

its lineup of Concerts for Conservation and donation of admissions and event proceeds to support conservation, reinforces Bass Pro Shops’ commitment to transforming how people and companies relate to conservation. For the past decade, the company has invested an average of 10% of its annual earnings into support for conservation. Bass Pro Shops is the largest lifetime industry donor in thehistoryofDucksUnlimited, theNational Wild Turkey Federation, the International Gamefish Association and many other groups. The World’s FishingFair reinforces this conservation leadership by raising the profile of natural resources and providing an exciting, entertaining vehicle through which to support conservation while partaking in a once-in-a-lifetime fishing experience. That conservation shares the headline with legends of country music and NASCAR is exciting—for the future of fish and wildlife and for anyone who loves fishing and the great outdoors. Yamaha Marine will expand its Power Pay contingency program in 2022 to include 506 tournaments, including 14 new trails. Power Pay, which recently surpassed 1,000 members, rewards anglers with cash payouts for running eligible Yamaha outboards in sanctioned tournaments. “The expansion of Yamaha Power Pay is a testament to the growth of competitive fishing. Anglers choose Yamaha for the best power and unmatched reliability, and this program rewards their loyalty and passion,” said Connor Megan, Senior Regional Marketing Specialist, Yamaha Marine Engine Systems. “We look forward to adding more anglers to the program, and we wish all competing anglers the best of luck during the 2022 season.” Competitors don’t have to win a tournament to receive a Power Pay payout. The program rewards the highest placing angler in each sanctioned tournament running Yamaha power. “Choosing Yamaha and signing up for Power Pay were some of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” said Jake Mims, a student at Brewton Parker College in Georgia and the first college angler to take home Power Pay cash. “I saw videos Chris Zaldain and Brandon Palaniuk posted about signing up for Power Pay and I’m glad I took their advice!” Amateurs, pros and even families can register for Power Pay. The Engebretsons, a family of anglers from Wausau, Wisconsin, used the program to turn their weekend hobby into extra cash and lifelong memories together. “We all enjoy fishing, and both my son and daughter have now begun competing in bass and walleye tournaments,” said Guy Engebretson after his family won their third Power Pay event last year. “When we learned about Power Pay, registering was a no-brainer for us. We own Yamaha outboards, and we compete in tournaments using those outboards. Why not use the product we know and trust to earn a little extra during the tournaments? It was a simple decision that paid off quickly.” Since launching Power Pay in October 2019, Yamaha Marine has awarded more than $382,000 to anglers competing in saltwater and freshwater tournaments across the country. Yamaha Marine announced updated and new Helm Master® EX boat control system features in addition to a new XTO EC® (“Extra Cup”) propeller that delivers better grip in specific boat applications. “Helm Master EX is the pinnacle of fully integrated digital boat control. These updates expand the system’s features to include improvements and completely new, customer-requested capabilities,” said David Meeler, New Product Introduction Manager, Yamaha Marine Engine Systems. “The new XTO EC prop helps the blades hold water longer for better grip in those applications where ventilation can be an issue. Developed from builder, dealer and customer feedback, these new products further enhance boating experiences for a wide variety of applications.” New Helm Master EX Features ThenewHelmMasterEXincludesaJoystickStation option to control and maneuver boats equipped with Helm Master EX Full Maneuverability. Also new is a measurement feature for Distance Remaining.v When fine-tuning any SetPoint® function using the joystick, the display now indicates the total distance requested and the amount of distance remaining in the adjustment. This helps operators know how much additional movement to expect. Boaters now have access to a single function Trim Assist button through their Digital Electronic Control (DEC) to toggle this function on or off without having to use the gauge. Also, a new Automatic Off Timer automatically powers the entire system down after one hour without activity – just in case the operator forgets before leaving the boat. The HelmMaster CL5 and Yamaha Multi- Functional Display Interfaces (MFDI) equipped displays now offer Bennett® trim tab settings,

which show position of the tabs and allow for adjustment of the AutoTrim Pro (ATP) setting. Select Furuno®-brand Multi-Functional Displays (MFDs) are now compatible with Helm Master EX. By installing a Yamaha MFD Interface with HDMI output, Furuno® NavNet® TZtouch® 16F and 19F models can show Yamaha display information directly on the MFD, and the operator can view and execute Yamaha functions through a convenient, included hand-held controller. TrackPoint® with Way Point Arrival is also now active for these models. This includes automatic deceleration with selectable distance and the ability to select which SetPoint® mode to enter upon arrival at the final waypoint. In addition, direct transition from DriftPoint Track to DriftPoint® is now available without deleting the route on the MFD. Course Hold Offset is now stackable up to 10 times. Operators can easily add multiples of the pre- selected offset distance (10, 20, or 50 feet) simply by holding the joystick. A beep will sound for each multiple, and the distance remaining appears on the display. Existing Helm Master EX customers who wish to upgrade their software and/or hardware can do so through their authorized Yamaha Marine dealers beginning in Spring of 2022. New XTO EC Propellers Yamahaintroducesanewlineofpropellersintended specifically for XTO Offshore® applications requiring additional propeller grip on the water. In 2005, Engel Coolers revolutionized the hard-cooler market with the launch of their rotomolded cooler, and now they are doing it again, with the introduction of their new patent-pending Rechargeable Live Bait Aerator Pump! Fishermen have come to love Engel’s Live Bait Cooler, a big upgrade from the battered old bait buckets because they offer better capacity and temperature control. Most importantly though they have an aerator that provides valuable oxygen to bait in the cooler, keeping them alive and mobile longer. We all know fish prefer chasing something that’s moving in the water, and Engel’s Live Bait Cooler keeps the bait much more lively. So Why The New Pump? You asked, they listened. Anglers have been telling Engel they love their Live Bait Cooler, but that the pump is noisy, or the battery doesn’t last long enough. So they went back to the drawing board and developed their new Engel Rechargeable Live Bait Aerator Pump. ENGEL RELEASES REVOLUTIONARY NEW RECHARGEABLE LIVE BAITAERATORPUMP COOLERS

What’s New? The new pump features a rechargeable lithium-ion battery giving it a 36-hour battery life, one of the longest on the market. Its magnetic pump mechanismmeans there’s no cogs or moving parts to fail or break. And because it is crafted from marine-grade, salt-water resistant stainless steel and sealed watertight with an internal gasket, the newAerator Pump comes with an industry-leading 2 year warranty. And it’s the quietest aerator pump on the market! Watch their Aerator Sound Test for proof. It features three speeds plus an intermittent function with an easy to use interface, and includes a standard USB- charger and cable so you never run out of power.

SPRO RkCrawler is the Ideal Wintertime Crankbait!

The RkCrawler 55 crankbait was designed by MLF Angler Mike McClelland to have a wide wobbling hunting action. It’s ability to bounce off cover like no other crankbaits triggers aggressive strikes. Just hit the rocks and the RkCrawler 55 does the rest while rocking the school of fish. Most crankbait anglers know that deflection is the deal, and the new RkCrawler 55 takes advantage of a predator’s built-in instinct and turns those natural instincts into secure hook-ups that show up at the weigh-in!

The Kamikaze Swimon was designed specifically to be used as a bladed jig trailer. It swims at the perfect cadence to match up with bladed jigs, complimenting the action rather than interfering like some trailers do. Other ways to fish this bait include behind a spinnerbait or swim jig, or flip it like a craw.

Watch this video as Wade Middleton, Mike McClelland and Michael Neal go into more detail about the Kamikaze Swimon!

In this episode of Americana Outdoors presented by Garmin, we’re tackling a task in the fishing world that can sometimes seem a little daunting if you haven’t done it before: rigging out your boat. We’re starting off the effort inside the Shop of the San Antonio Premier Yamaha Boating Center. When you dive into any rigging effort on a new or old boat the first thing we suggest is having a good detailed plan and understanding of the task ahead. As we spend time in the Premier Yamaha Boating Center, we’ll go over how to mount Power- Poles, a Yamaha V6 V MAX SHO® Outboard, and the ATLAS™ Heavy Duty Hydraulic Jack Plate by TH Marine to your Ranger bass boat. Next up, we’ll meet up with the Garmin Technical Staff as they give us a thorough walk through of how to set up the NMEA Network that will allow all of Wade’s NMEA compatible Garmin electronic units to communicate with one another. From the Garmin GPS 24XD module, to EchoMap™ Ultra 126SV units, to the Force® Trolling Motor, we’ll show you how to get your system up and running without a hitch!

Once we have our NMEA system up and running, it’s time to set up our units and get them updated with the latest software versions. We’ll have step by step guides for updating your graphs, and for how to assign memory cards for various purposes, such as saving waypoints and screenshots from your sonar. Lastly, we’ll hit the water to round out setting up your Garmin Force® Trolling Motor and Livescope™ units. As we mentioned from the beginning, boat rigging can seem a little daunting, but we hope that by the end of this episode, any and all questions you may have about boat rigging have been answered! Line diameter is a specification that can sometimes be overlooked by the angler when choosing fishing line. However, line diameter greatly impacts the action and fishability of a given bait or presentation. Whether he’s fishing a finesse worm, flipping heavy soft plastics or throwing a shallow diving crankbait, Sunline Pro Kyle Welcher has a specific line diameter he prefers to use for each application. Watch this video to find out which lines and diameters Welcher uses for three important techniques that all anglers use.

While de-cocking with the ACUdraw De-Cock, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any point and the handle will stop in place. “With the unprecedented demand of our ACUslide™ system, we knew it was only a matter of time before we introduced a revolutionary silent cocking and safe de-cocking system to the middle of our crossbow lineup,” said TenPoint CEO Rick Bednar. “The ACUdraw De-Cock is just that and Crossbow Technologies

pairing safe de-cocking with our best-selling Titan model that delivers 380 FPS produces the best value in the crossbow industry.” In addition, the easy-to-operate ACUdraw De-Cock reduces the effort required to cock the crossbow to just 5-pounds and is equipped with a 1,000-pound strength Nylon strap to reduce wear and abrasion. The Titan’s NEW D-1™ Trigger is a 2-stage, zero- creep design that includes a new DFP™ (Dry- Fire-Prohibitor) and delivers a consistent crisp, 3.5-pound pull. The simple push of a button moves the trigger to “de-cock” mode and allows the user to safely de-cock the crossbow with the built-in ACUdraw De-Cock crank cocking device or manually de-cock the crossbow with the ACUdraw 50 SLED™ rope cocking device.
