LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
As we are halfway through the winter season, it’s not far until spring will be here! And that means that we are starting to ramp up the fishing adventures. It is always a little bittersweet to close out hunting season, simply because we get to spend so much time with our friends at various camps, enjoying so many adventures. However, we’re also ready to also enjoy time on the water with friends too. While we are actually able to fish all year, this season does find us fishing more frequently while gearing up for fishing tournament season. The Americana Outdoors team has already filmed several fishing shows, covered high school and collegiate bass fishing tournaments, redfish tournaments, and more bass fishing tournaments….and that’s just in February! We’ve visited some of our favorite bodies of water, including Sam Rayburn Reservoir (it’s HOT right now!), and I promise you’re going to want to watch all the excitement and get out on the water yourself! This season, we’ve got new and exciting action coming from various bodies of water throughout the nation, new products to show off like the Garmin Force™ trolling motor, and we’re always checking out new fishing lures. With all that keeping us busy, we do still have hunting on our minds – it’s impossible not to as we spent a week in Las Vegas for the 2020 SHOT Show and then headed out on a snowy adventure near the Texas Panhandle in search of blue quail, and currently, we are plotting and planning for the 3rd Annual Yamaha Turkey-Bass Smash later this spring. As always, the team is on the road and in the field capturing it all so that you’ll get to see the final works soon. Until next time, we’ll see you out on the water and in the field! And remember that Spring Turkey season is nearly here!

TROLLING MOTOR NEW GARMIN FORCE™ INTRODUCING THE
Garmin International, the world’s leading marine electronics manufacturer announced its new Force™ Trolling Motor, bringing superior power and efficiency to the freshwater trolling motor market. More power and efficiency means anglers can cover more area and stay on their spots longer, even in tough conditions—and without spooking the fish. Thanks to its unique brushless motor, Force™ operates with almost undetectable levels of sonar and steering noise both below and above the water. It’s also the first trolling motor to include built-in industry-leading Garmin CHIRP traditional and Ultra High-Definition ClearVü and SideVü scanning sonars.
trolling motor is 30%more powerful than existing freshwater trolling motors on the market today. It can move anglers from one dock or brush pile to the next more quickly, throttle back with ease when they need to fish slow and stand up better to winds and currents. Even with all that power, Force™ is also the most efficient trolling motor available, so anglers can count on it to fish all day. Its high-efficiency brushless motor operates at either 36V or 24V. When running at 24V, Force delivers comparable thrust to competitors’ 36V motors. It’s everything anglers want in a trolling motor and more.
The Force™ trolling motor comes with an integrated transducer optimized for freshwater use with Garmin CHIRP traditional and Ultra High-Definition ClearVü and SideVü scanning sonars so anglers can see more fish and structure clearly. The built-in transducer is user- serviceable, and the cable management system protects the built-in transducer cables as well as additional accessories, including the full range of Panoptix™ and Panoptix LiveScope™ sonars. Wireless integration with a Garmin Chartplotter and built-in autopilot functionality allows anglers with Force™ to get to the fish faster and stay in that same location while they fish. Thanks to its integrated heading sensor and GPS, Force™ offers precise virtual anchor lock to help anglers lock their boat onto their fishing spot quickly and with accuracy. From the Chartplotter, users can create The Garmin Force™ Trolling Motor brings superior power and efficiency to the freshwater trolling motor market.

Not only is the Force™ trolling motor at the forefront of power and efficiency, its robust, reliable design was built to withstand strenuous use, season after season, and the result is a trolling motor that’s second to none.” Anglers with Garmin Force™ get the best of all three. Thanks to its quiet brushless motor, Force™ operates with nearly imperceptible sonar noise interference. It’s extremely quiet above water, too, without compromise in performance. The Force™
routes to their favorite waypoint and follow tracks while they go. Anglers can set their track, or select a suggested Auto Guidance route, and the Force™ will move them along the course. Force™ includes a convenient wireless foot pedal that provides instant control and responsiveness yet feels and steers like a cable-steered pedal. The pedal resistance is adjustable and features foot- actuated buttons to control speed, heading and anchor lock. It can be operated wirelessly using AA batteries, or with the included power cable for wired power installation. When battery-operated, the wireless foot pedal will remain charged through one year of typical fishing use. What’s more, Force™ can also be controlled from anywhere on the boat via the included wireless remote. The remote gives anglers complete control of the trollingmotorwithprecisevirtual anchor lock, autopilot functionality, and simple point-and-go gesture steering and includes user-programmable keys for remote Chartplotter control—plus it floats! Garmin has a long-standing commitment to build products that offer a compelling design and superior quality, and its Force™ trolling motor is no exception. As the world’s leading marine electronics manufacturer, Garmin has been recognized for four consecutive years as the Manufacturer of the Year by the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA), an honor given to the most recognized marine electronics company for support of products in the field. Led by decades of marine industry expertise and innovation, Force™ is built to last— it’s rugged and durable, yet easy to deploy and retract and stow with dual- gas shocks. It’s backed by a 3-year warranty and a limited lifetime warranty on the shaft, along with support through an ever-increasing servicing dealer network. VAPOR RS470 INTRODUCING THE NEW
At the 2020 ATA Show in Indianapolis, IN, TenPoint Crossbow Technologies launched the world’s most technologically advanced crossbow ever produced – the NEW Vapor RS470. Delivering supercharged speeds up to 470 FPS and featuring the NEW revolutionary ACUslide™ cocking and de- cocking system, the industry’s premiere crossbow measures an ultra-narrow 6.5-inches wide and weighs an incredible half-pound less than previous TenPoint flagship models.
“The Vapor is the most accurate crossbow I have ever shot.” said Rick Bednar, TenPoint CEO. “We have always committed ourselves to building the best crossbows on the market and, while de- cocking is not a new concept to the crossbow market, the silent ACUslide is the first safe option to de-cock a crossbow with a crank.” The NEW ACUslide features the company’s groundbreaking Auto-Brake Gear System, which allows for silent cocking and safe and controlled de-cocking of the crossbow. The Auto-Brake Gear System eliminates the potential of losing control which can lead to injury or costly bow damage during the de-cocking process. While de-cocking with the ACUslide, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any point, with no other action required – and the handle will stop in place. The NEW 7 1/2-inch XTEND Adjustable Crank Handle reduces cocking effort to 5-pounds and stores securely into the butt-stock. The Vapor features a patented reverse-draw bow assembly that draws the string through the riser, creating an industry-leading 17-inch power stroke

The Vapor RS470 features the company’s NEWS1™ trigger. This 2-stage, zero-creep design features an advanced roller-sear system that delivers a consistent crisp, 3.5-pound pull. The trigger is equipped with a DFI™ (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) and is fitted with a nylon-filament arrow retention brush that improves arrow grip and alignment to reduce noise and vibration. An integrated string stop system is also included to further reduce noise and vibration. The crossbow has a NEW 20-inch MICRO-TRAC™ fluted aluminumbarrel that reduces the flight deck surface by an incredible 50%. Minimal string-to- barrel contact increases accuracy and ensures the longest string life in the industry. The barrel is fastened to the NEW ultra-light, two-piece TECH-X™ stock that features multiple weight-reducing cutouts, as well as a hollowpocket that houses the ACUslide cocking and de-cocking system. The stock provides the shooter with ideal length-of-pull and combines with the EVO-X Marksman™ Precision Scope to yield perfect eye- level alignment. Fully assembled, the crossbow weighs just 8-pounds (w/o accessories), measures only 31-inches (w/o stirrup) in length, and shoots up to a supercharged 470 feet-per-second. Decorated in Veil® Alpine camo or Graphite Gray, the Vapor RS470 ships completely assembled and includes the most extensive Ready-To-Hunt package in the industry. Click here to learn more about the new TenPoint VAPOR RS470.
The increased power stroke generates more speed with less draw weight – creating a smoother, quieter shot. The elongated power stroke also keeps the arrow nock engaged with the string for an additional 4-inches compared to traditional crossbows, before release – this is a critical component in performance, as the longer the nock remains engagedwith the string, themoreaccurate the crossbow will be upon impact. In addition, this center-mounted riser provides superior balance, eliminating the “nose heavy” feel of traditional crossbows and making it easier to hold steady and increase accuracy. The RX7-Cam™ system rotates an industry- leading 404-degrees to produce speeds up to an unprecedented 470 feet-per-second. The crossbow’s revolutionary Vector-Quad™ 4 cable system technology utilizes four cables instead of the traditional two which eliminates cam lean and generates straight nock travel leading to same hole down-range accuracy. PASSING ON TRADITIONS By: Haley Rivera
Working in the family business and seeing all the hunts our clients go on finally gave me the hunting bug. I was able to go on my first hunt with my mom and Wade last year in hopes of my first hog. While the experience was wonderful with being out in nature with no cell phones and just surrounded by nature, the hogs had other plans. With the weather conditions being as they were, very little to no wind, the hogs could hear our every move. After hearing the hogs all around us with no hogs coming out, we decided it was time to move to another spot and try again. As we drove to our other location, a group of hogs ran across the road right in front of us. It was a bittersweet feeling for me because I finally saw the hogs I came here to get, but they knew why we were there. After trying two other spots that day, Wade, my mom and I called it a night. With the defeat, I was wanting to go out for a redemption hunt the next chance I had.
As time went by with our busy schedules, my mom, Wade and I were able to come back out to our Deer Camp and get ready for another weekend hunt at the Javeline Ranch. From the previous hunt, I came with my fair share of doubts, but I was hopeful at the same time that I was going to leave with a hog this time. As Saturday morning came we all were out and set up at the 3-way blind by 6:15 am. Once some time had gone by, we were not seeing any hogs yet, and Wade called the 15-minute mark. At this point, my hopes were fading and I was becoming doubtful yet again. However, one hog was hungry because one of them finally decided to come out shortly after Wade had made that call. Now, my hopes are up and I’m doing my best to keep my eyes on him as he moves around. Once, he gets into a good position for me to take my shot, I felt my heart racing and all the feelings coming over me. Finally, I look over
at my mom and Wade to make sure they’re ready, and from 95-yards away the shot was made and he went down. Now, I knew what all our clients felt after a successful hunt. My heart was racing, and I was still in shock after realizing that I had my first successful hunt! After all the celebration we went down from the stand to see how I did. Once, I saw the hog I was in shock with how big he was. Loading him up took all three of us to get into the bed of the Yamaha Viking VI. With it being early in the day, we head back to camp to drop off the hog, get him prepped to take the meat, and have some lunch. Afterward, to my surprise, Wade was going to let me go after a buck! This lead us to go back and set up our own blind with a lot of brush and twigs so that we will be hidden. Now that it’s all set up, we leave for a bit to allow everything to calm down and allow the animals to be comfortable again before we go back for the hunt. Now, when it came time to go back for the actual hunt, there is never a dull moment with my mom and I. Wade had the honors of giving us a team nickname of Team Giggles which will always hold true! When it came closer to 3:30 pm we went back out for another hunt that same day. When we got into our positions it didn’t take long for the deer to come out. We saw quite a few does before we ever saw a buck. Shortly after some time passed by, Wade got my attention and told me there was a buck on our right about to cross the creek. I then had my eyes glued and waited to see what would happen. While we were out there, and as I was waiting for the buck to give me a perfect shot, in the back of my mind I was worried that one of the other deer would see us and blow our cover. Fortunately, they were all fairly calm which helped me a lot.
The hungry hog shows himself.
Celebratory photo with my hog and the new T/C Compass II
A hunt isn’t a hunt without a lot of laughs.
Shortly after the buck crossed the river, he went
broadside for me and I made my shot. Then, all the excitement came over me again. It took me a while to realize that I took my very first buck. He was a great 9-pointer that I took and I couldn’t wait to go over to him and see the beautiful guy. Once, we got him loaded up we headed back to camp to begin getting the buck ready for the processing stage and to get cleaned up. I thought about how amazing of a day we had, and how shocked I was to get two animals in one day on my second hunt ever. I definitely look forward to another hunt next hunting season. Be on the lookout in a future Americana Outdoors presented by Garmin episode to see the whole hunt go down!

ConQuest Scents’ NEW ScentFIRE
UP YOUR SCENT CONTROL GAME WITH THE ALL-NEW SCENTFIRE! The ScentFIRE heats scent liquid turning it into a vapor which then dispenses periodically into the air. The scent vapor, like the aroma of cooking foods, is much stronger and more likely to reach distant deer, especially when continuously dispersed. HOW IT WORKS 1. FIRE IT UP
Screw scent cartridge into the ScentFIRE chamber where the scent is heated into a vapor. ScentFIRE quickly heats liquid scent turning it into a long-ranging, strong-smelling vapor. The ScentFIRE vaporizer takes pre-filled cartridges of EverCalm, VS-1, or Rutting Buck that each last approximately 50 hours on 3-minute mode. 2. FIRE IT OFF Position ScentFIRE in a strategic position. The Scent Fire can be placed on the ground, screwed into a tree, placed on a small tripod, or mounted on a telescopic pole to increase scent dispersal. It will automatically dispense scent every 90 seconds (adjustable), or use it manually via the remote control (included). ScentFIRE uses three AA batteries (not included) and operates approx. 40 hours on 3-minute mode. 3. FIRE ‘EM UP Long-lasting, strong-smelling scent vapors travel great distances to entice deer. There are 3 dispersal modes: 3 min, 1 min, and standby; it can also be fired off manually.
COLOR REDEFINED SHOP CAPTIVATE™
ENHANCED COLOR CAPTIVATE™ filters out the light where blue merges with green and green merges with red. This allows more light where it’s easier for your eyes to see, resulting in enhanced blues, greens and reds for a true color experience. SPRO UNVIELS NEW COLORS IN RK CRAWLER LINE
The brainchild of accomplished bass pro and B.A.S.S. Elite Series angler Mike McClelland, the SPRO RK Crawler line has added four new colors. “The RkCrawler 55 is my every day, go-to crankbait when bass are headed back shallow in the fall,” said McClelland. “Wherever you’re at, bass are going to head to the depths during the heat of the summer andaswaterscool, theybegin toheadback shallow. The profile of the RkCrawler 55 allows you to work the 9- to 14-foot depths where bass stage before scooting back into the really skinny water to chase bait. In the past, I had to work those depths with jigs, hardheads, and Carolina-rigs. Now, because of the deep-diving lip on the RkCrawler 55, it gets to depth quickly and maintains a flat dive curve so I can target those fish with a crank.” Add that to the fact that the RkCrawler 55 is one of the most aerodynamic and castable lures in the category and you have a winning combination. “Another feature of the RkCrawler 55 is its ability to bounce and deflect off rocks and structure without getting hung up, which triggers aggressive strikes,” said McClelland. “You need to be making contact with the bottom in order for a crankbait to be effective. It’s amazing how the RkCrawler 55 comes though cover without getting fouled up.” After using the RkCrawler 55, McClelland’s friends and fellow pros were clamoring for a similar bait that they could use in shallower water and a lure
with a smaller profile. Enter the RkCrawler 50 and RkCrawler MD 55. “The RkCrawler 50 has a tighter wobble and a smaller profile,” said McClelland. “It’s basically a down-sized version of the RkCrawler 55 at about 2-3/4 inches. It excels in clear water, on pressured fish and when bass are keying on smaller baits during the spawn or when the bass are targeting shad and bream.” The lure works best in 4 to 8 feet of water.
Electric Red Craw
Burnt Orange Craw
The MD in RkCrawler MD 55 means medium depth. “The RkCrawler MD 55 is meant to be fish in 4 to 8 feet of water, but you can fish it as shallow as 1 or 2 feet and as deep as 10 feet and catch fish,” said McClelland. “It has a similar wobble to the 55, but it runs at a more distinct angle with the tail up because of the angle of the bill.” McClelland said that anglers who target smallmouths in northern waters are going to love the new colors of RkCrawlers. “Smallmouths up north feed on a lot of bluegills and perch. The Clear Gill and Real Perch are going to be killers on smallies there. Of course, there are times when it pays to throw something a little different, too. Smallmouth are definitely sight feeders so one of the new craw colors, like Electric Red Craw or Burnt Orange Craw, might be just what you need for a bass to sit up and take notice in super clear water. The new colors are going to allow you to fish these lures throughout the season regardless of watercolor.” Mike McClelland, SPRO Pro Angler

TEAM LAUER/CRADDOCK WINS IFA REDFISH TOUR EVENT AT TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA
Mike Lauer and Jessie Craddock, both of Port Charlotte, Florida, weighed a two-fish limit that totaled 14.73 pounds to win the first regular- season event for the Florida East Division of the IFA Redfish Tour presented by Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s on February 8, at Titusville, Florida. The team won a fully rigged Ranger RB190 boat prize package. A cold front and low water blasted the Titusville area and made a tough day for IFA Redfish Tour anglers. “It was cold and windy, but we prepared for it,” said Lauer. “We had a strong game plan and stuck to it.” The team dead-sticked Berkley Gulp shrimp and crabs off a school of redfish found in the north lagoon. On an otherwise slow day of fishing for most teams, Lauer and Craddock’s game plan worked with the duo pulling in two of the three 7-plus pound fish weighed during competition. The anglers’ 7.63-pounder was the heaviest of the day, winning the $500 Berkley Big Redfish award, along with $250 in credit to the Berkley website. In total, the team took home $27,750 in winnings.
Second-place finishers Jeremy King, of Fleming Island, Florida, and Jimmy Frangos, of Green Cove Springs, weighed a total of 11.95 pounds. The low water also affected the anglers, who made a quick change of plans. “The water was too low to fish where we were going to fish, so we went to our second plan,” King said. Running only two miles south of the takeoff ramp, the team sight-fished culverts and deep mangrove pockets with soft plastics. Despite being greenhorns to the IFA Redfish Tour, the duo felt like they accomplished their goal and took home $3,301 for their efforts. “We are happy with how it turned out,” said King. “We’ve only fished four tournaments so it’s nice to place second.” To continue this article click here. The next stop for the IFA Redfish Tour is set for Steinhatchee, Florida, on March 7. Teams that compete in at least two regular-season events will be qualified for the 2020 IFA Redfish Tour Championship.

ILES & SHOOK SHAKE UP RAYBURN WITH MASSIVE SACK
Brookeland, Texas (Feb. 24, 2020) — Stats lovers know that drama dwells in the details; often in the slimmest of margins. Well, for Danny Isles and Brian Shook, an astounding 5-bass limit of 49.31 pounds not only won the Texas Team Trail presented by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, at Lake Sam Rayburn, it outpaced their nearest competitors by nearly 18 1/2 pounds. Notably, that winning margin was more than the 12th-place team’s total weight. So, what does it take to sack up five bass weighing just south of 50 pounds? Weather, Iles said — cold weather. Initially, the Lufkin, Texas angler admits, he and his partner were unsure of what the day would bring.
“Honestly, the cold front we had the middle of the week is the only reason we caught those fish,” Iles said. “It seems like they had really moved up shallow pretty good, but we had a pretty severe cold front that knocked the water temperatures down and pushed the fish out of the little pockets that they had been in.” “Last weekend we fished offshore in practice and didn’t catch anything but three or four little ones. We talked about it earlier this week and thought ‘It’s been colder, maybe the fish will back up a little bit.’ When we left (at take off), we said ‘It’s 50/50 whether we’re even going to catch one or not.”
